There are some startling statistics presented in this research article from the American Cancer Society – most notably, that nearly 50% of cancer survivors who were studied had or expected to face significant financial debt due to their cancer and cancer treatment, while, at the same time, almost ALL of those same survivors had insurance. Long-Term Breast Cancer Risk in Hodgkin Lymphoma Survivors Treated With Doxorubicin
The research was presented in October, 2022 at the International Symposium on Hodgkin Lymphoma and earlier, at the ASCO (American Society for Clinical Oncology) Annual Meeting in 2021. A common chemotherapy drug used to treat Hodgkin lymphoma conferred a significantly increased risk of breast cancer among women treated during adolescence and adulthood, a large retrospective study showed.
